Dr. Kornwitz was born and raised in Boston, MA. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1976 before receiving his medical degree from Boston University in 1980. He then completed his general orthopedic residency
training at the University of Massachusetts in Worchester, MA, where he trained under Dr. Arthur Pappas, the team doctor for
the Boston Red Sox.
While a member of the faculty at UMass, Dr. Kornwitz provided didactic and clinical instruction in anatomy and adult trauma,
and has peer-review publications of his work in the treatment of hip fractures in adults. Dr. Kornwitz was recruited to
serve as the Chief of the department of Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard Pilgrim Health in 1989 before joining West Bay
Orthopedics. Since then, he has served the Kent Hospital community by developing a busy practice with specialization in
arthritis surgery including total joint replacements, arthroscopy, and fracture surgery. Dr. Kornwitz is Board Certified
by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
